What is Yoga?
Yoga is a 4,000-year-old system of health and wellbeing. The benefits of yoga are multidimensional, physical, emotional, and spiritual. Many people are attracted to yoga practice initially for the physical benefits, which are innumerable, but realize over time that Yoga has improved their lives. Yoga provides a complete “workout and working” that strengthens and tones the body, mind, and improves posture, relieves pain and connects us to spirit.
What is Hatha Yoga?
Hatha yoga is a physical and mental discipline which trains the body and mind and connects us to our spirituality. When most Westerners think of Yoga they are actually thinking about hatha yoga.
The most famous aspect of Hatha yoga is the postures or asana which are used to strengthen, stretch, and tone the body. Another important aspect of Hatha Yoga is pranayama or breathwork. During yoga sessions, one is very mindful of their breath and may practice breathwork.
The practice of Meditation is also deemed part of Hatha Yoga which helps to promote stillness, peace, and connection. Hatha yoga helps one to connect mind, body, and spirit.
